Gampaha Co-operative Hospital was established on 19th August 1962 at the Government school, Courts Road with the presence of 65 and out of which 40 were the members. Thereafter it was registered under the number N.462 on 29th September 1962. Mr. A.N.D.A Abeysinghe was the first chairman of the society.

The hospital was shifted to No: 35, Queens Mary Road and opened by the chairman of Peoples Bank, Mr. Vincent Subasinghe. The inauguration speech was made by Mr. S.D Bandaranayake the Member of Parliament, Gampaha then.

Since then the following chairpersons have rendered their appreciable services to the hospital for it to be the present status.
